Gakharia for Georgia Party addresses Irakli Kobakhidze with a parliamentary question and demands specific information on the issue of fuel imports by business entities into Abkhazia

The Gakharia for Georgia Party addresses Irakli Kobakhidze with a parliamentary question and demands that the head of government provide information on the import of fuel by business entities into the occupied territory of Abkhazia.

As stated in the statement released by the party, they also demand information on the method and procedures by which fuel was imported into the occupied territory of Abkhazia.

“On August 12, 2026, according to your statement, specific business entities imported petroleum products into the occupied territory of Abkhazia. According to Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the Law of Georgia “On Occupied Territories”, any economic (entrepreneurial or non-entrepreneurial) activity is prohibited in the occupied territories, except for exceptional cases requiring special consent.

In accordance with Article 148 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Georgia, we are addressing you with a question in order to obtain the following information:

1. a) a copy of the consent specified by the legal act of the Government of Georgia;
2. b) a list of business entities that carried out the supply of the specified goods;
3. c) the relevant specific purpose specified by the Law of Georgia “On Occupied Territories” and the legal basis for which the specified consent was issued;
4. d) the quantity of the supplied goods, the delivery period and the final destination of the goods;
5. e) by what route and procedures did the said goods enter the occupied territory of Abkhazia;
6. f) is there any kind of application/request to the Georgian government for the supply of the said goods? If so, please provide us with a copy of this application,” reads the information.

For information, Solidus LLC imported fuel into the occupied territory of Abkhazia. As the owner of the company, Giorgi Arveladze, told Radio Liberty, 300 tons of fuel were imported into the occupied territory via the Enguri Bridge.

“If we had not imported this, 40 thousand Georgians would have started moving to Zugdidi in 20-liter “canisters”. That is why it was decided that it was better for me to import it together with my Abkhaz friends,” Giorgi Arveladze told Radio Liberty.

In addition, on August 12, at a briefing held at the government administration, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the fuel had entered the occupied territory in compliance with the law.
