Zurab Menteshashvili, convicted of blocking Rustaveli Avenue for the second time, leaves prison

Zurab Menteshashvili, convicted of blocking Rustaveli Avenue for the second time, has left prison.

Menteshashvili was released from prison after serving a 9-month sentence.

For information, Zurab Menteshashvili was arrested on November 1, 2025. The investigation was initiated under Part 1 of Article 347 of the Criminal Code, which refers to violation of the rules for holding an assembly or demonstration. Menteshashvili was first detained under administrative law on October 24, 2025 for a similar action, and was sent to seven days of detention as a punishment. Accordingly, due to repeated commission of the act, an investigation was initiated against him under the Criminal Code.
