The court imposed a 5,000-lari fine on activist Vaso Beridze, who was detained near the City Assembly – Beridze was released from the courtroom

The court recognized activist Vaso Beridze, who was detained at a rally held near the Tbilisi City Assembly, as an administrative offender.

Judge Tornike Kapanadze fined Vaso Beridze 5,000 lari.

For reference, during the rally near the Tbilisi City Assembly, 10 persons were detained: Tornike Toshkhua, Mariam Mekanchishvili, Ia Melitauri, Nato Bolkvadze, Sandro Sekhniashvili, Lasha Dgebuadze, Vaso Beridze, Marine Nanava, Tornike Tikaradze, and Shako Baghdoshvili.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainees “were holding banners of an insulting content.”

They were detained under Articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which refer to petty hooliganism and resistance to law enforcement officers.
