Complete rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue launched

The complete rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue has begun. Accordingly, all types of traffic have been completely restricted on Rustaveli Avenue and part of Merab Kostava Street.

According to the Tbilisi City Hall, at the first stage of the project, underground communication networks will be replaced. In particular, rehabilitation will be carried out on the central networks of water supply, sewage, drainage and gas supply. Also, overhead wires will be placed in underground cable channels. Underground waste collection bins will be installed.

In addition, new road infrastructure will be arranged, the roadway and sidewalks will be renovated, and asphalt will be laid. The outdoor lighting network will be completely replaced - a modern LED lighting system will be installed, which will ensure better lighting and energy efficiency of the avenue.

“Special attention will be paid to the safety and comfort of pedestrians - above-ground pedestrian crossings will be arranged, new road signs will be installed and horizontal markings will be drawn.

The infrastructure of the avenue will be fully adapted for people with disabilities,” the Tbilisi City Hall said.

The works will be completed by the end of November.

The total cost of the project is up to 50 million GEL.
