Boris Chele Kurua: Who are they to lecture us about insults?! The people who called and cursed half of Georgia over their political views — if anyone is cultivating hate speech, it is Georgian Dream itself

“Who are they to lecture us about insults?! People who called half of Georgia on their phone numbers and cursed them because of their political views; people who have a factory of trolls and bots,” opposition politician and lawyer Boris Chele Kurua said while commenting on journalist Vakho Sanaia being sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention.

Speaking on PalitraNews’ program “Resume,” Boris Chele Kurua said that if anyone is cultivating hate speech, it is Georgian Dream itself.

“It is difficult for me to speak about this issue as a lawyer, because legal arguments are powerless here. Any reasonable person should understand what we are dealing with. Who are they to lecture us about insults?! People who called half of Georgia on their phone numbers and cursed them because of their political views; people who have a factory of trolls and bots engaged in cultivating hate speech. Whenever anyone speaks out, these people go after them and start cursing and insulting them. If anyone is cultivating hate speech, it is Georgian Dream itself,” Boris Chele Kurua said.

He also said that state resources are being spent for improper purposes.

“Every day we see what our tax money is being spent on. For example, an agency has been created where people ‘screenshot’ and ‘scroll.’ Vakho Sanaia has been sent to prison for 14 days. We have to pay for keeping Vakho Sanaia locked up somewhere. Everyone should understand that a judge does not make a decision in their own name or in the name of Georgian Dream, but in the name of the Georgian people. I do not think the Georgian people want people to be sent to prison for a post written on Facebook,” Boris Chele Kurua said.
