Investigation Service exposes sale of 19 tons of expired and hazardous frozen meat products

The Investigation Service has revealed the fact of the sale of 19 tons of expired and hazardous meat products.

According to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, the accused purchased 19 tons of expired and hazardous frozen meat products from a foreign citizen, which he stored in one of the cold storage warehouses in Tbilisi and gradually transferred to his own meat shop for sale.

“As a result of operational-search measures and investigative actions carried out in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia brought one person to criminal liability for the fact of selling products hazardous to health.

The investigation established that the defendant purchased 19 tons of expired and hazardous frozen goods from a foreign citizen, which he stored in one of the cold storage warehouses in Tbilisi and gradually transferred to his own meat shop for sale.

The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance seized a large amount of expired products from the store and cold storage owned by the defendant as evidence,” reads the information.
