Singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili leaves Telavi Police Department late at night

Singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili left the Telavi Police Department late at night.

He had been summoned to the investigative agency as a witness in connection with an incident at the Agarani Estate, where he was questioned for several hours. It is unknown what questions investigators asked Mrelashvili, as the singer left the police building without comment.

Earlier, a video was circulated showing an apparent confrontation between police officers and Aleksandre Mrelashvili. In response, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that Mrelashvili had refused to remain at the Telavi police station until the questioning was completed, verbally insulted police officers and damaged a locker for personal belongings, prompting administrative proceedings.

The singer had been hosting the wedding reception of the Chighladze family at the Agarani Estate in the village of Ruispiri, Telavi Municipality, where a conflict occurred between Russian tourists and people attending the wedding.

According to the reported account, during the wedding, foreign nationals allegedly insulted people attending the event from a balcony and poured water on the equipment, after which one of the attendees physically assaulted a Russian woman.

One person, Giorgi Chighladze, has been detained.
