Journalist Vakho Sanaia fined GEL 4,000

In the case of insulting a political official, the judge found journalist Vakho Sanaia to be an administrative offender and imposed a fine of 4,000 GEL.

Vakho Sanaia himself did not attend today's trial.

For information, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is accusing politicians, journalists and activists of violating Article 173-16 Prima of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which refers to insulting a political official. The article provides for a fine of 1,500 GEL to 4,000 GEL or administrative detention for up to 45 days.
