Irakli Kadagishvili on the debates in the European Parliament: one of the speakers was saying that new parliamentary elections should be held in Georgia – why should they be held? Just because the political forces you supported didn’t win?

"Criticism is acceptable only if it is based on objective facts" – this is how Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kadagishvili responded to the debates held in the European Parliament regarding Georgia.

“One of the speakers was saying that new parliamentary elections should be held in Georgia. But why should new parliamentary elections be held? Just because the political forces you wanted to win didn’t succeed in the elections? Is that a reason to artificially create a political crisis in the country to fulfill your own desires? This is clearly a blatant interference in the country’s internal affairs, with complete disregard for democratic principles. That is why those MEPs who say that Georgia does not need this kind of interference – neither from Moscow, which used to pursue exactly such a policy in Georgia, nor from Brussels, nor from any capital city – they are expressing the correct and principled position.

Criticism will be acceptable only if it is based on objective data. Otherwise, it is an unjust and dishonest method of advancing one's own political agenda,” Kadagishvili said.

He also stated that certain political circles do not aim to support an independent government in Georgia, but rather seek to install a puppet-style administration.

“We are seeing the same picture we saw after the 2020 elections. The goal of certain political groups is not to have an independent Georgian state and government, but to establish a puppet-type rule in Georgia – one that would primarily serve external interests and execute foreign orders. That is the goal – there is no other,” Kadagishvili concluded.
