"This process is so absurd and so insane that it’s truly unimaginable to talk about expectations. Evil has no logic," politician Gia Japaridze told journalists at the Tbilisi City Court, where Zurab Japaridze’s trial is set to take place today.
As Japaridze noted, “What’s happening now is an absurdity that didn’t even occur in the Soviet Union.”
“This process is so absurd and so insane that it’s truly unimaginable to talk about expectations. Evil has no logic. Don’t look for logic in evil. Even totalitarian regimes, communists, fascists, Nazis, even Beria, the Soviet executioner, had some standards—at least they tried to provide some pretext to society. In this case, even that doesn’t exist. What’s happening now is an absurdity that didn’t even occur in the Soviet Union. What expectations should I have? Evil has no logic, so don’t talk about expectations. Whatever Ivanishvili decides will happen. I believe his goal is to imprison political leaders, ban political parties, and establish a one-party dictatorship. To achieve these goals, I don’t know what he’ll do today,” Gia Japaridze stated.
The verdict in the case of Zurab Girchi Japaridze, leader of the "Coalition for Change," concerning his failure to comply with the demands of a parliamentary temporary investigative commission, may be announced today, June 17.
The hearing is scheduled at Tbilisi City Court at 11:00 AM.
During today’s court session, the defense will challenge the prosecution’s evidence, after which both sides will deliver closing statements. The judge, Jvabe Nachkebia, will then retire to deliberate on the verdict.
