Irakli Kobakhidze: In the past two centuries, Georgia has never been as independent as it is today. Since the restoration of independence, Georgia has been walking its own biblical, 40-year-long Moses path towards the Promised Land

We must constantly remind ourselves that the struggle for Georgia’s independence and freedom is a continuous process and that it continues to this day.

Since the restoration of state independence, Georgia has been walking its own biblical, 40-year-long Moses path towards the Promised Land,” – said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in his speech at the swearing-in ceremony of new conscripts.

According to the head of government, Georgia has never been as independent in the past two centuries as it is today.

“I congratulate you all on Georgia’s State Independence Day!

On a day like today, it is especially important to remind ourselves that in the past two centuries, Georgia has never been as independent as it is today. Georgia’s independence and identity are supreme values, without which nothing else has any worth. Therefore, their protection must be the focus of our daily care, and as the head of the Georgian government, I promise you that it will remain so.

We must constantly remind ourselves that the struggle for Georgia’s independence and freedom is a continuous process and that it continues to this day. Since the restoration of state independence, Georgia has been walking its own biblical, 40-year-long Moses path towards the Promised Land.

For our country, the Promised Land means the realization of two fundamental national dreams: first, an economically strong Georgia, where no Georgian family lives in poverty; and second, a physically and spiritually unified Georgia – a Georgia with Abkhazia and Samachablo, a Georgia where people are united by love for one another,” – the Prime Minister said.

Additionally, as the head of government noted, every corner of Georgia, its unique language and script, and the Georgian Orthodox Church are sources of pride for the Georgian people.

“Our pride is each beautiful corner of our homeland – with its stunning nature and wonderful people; our pride is our unique language and script; our pride is the Georgian Orthodox Church, which has always been, and remains to this day, one of the main pillars of Georgia’s national independence and identity. On this day, once again, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our holy Church and to the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II, who, with his wisdom and half-century-long service, has made an immense contribution to preserving and strengthening Georgia’s national identity,” – the Prime Minister stated.
