Salome Samadashvili: The unanimous approval of the 'Megobari Act' is another major defeat for the Russian regime on the foreign front - I would call this act the dismantling act of Ivanishvili’s Russian regime

"We saw what kind of hysteria the regime exhibited after the step forward in the adoption of the 'Megobari Act,' when Russia’s representative in the illegitimate parliament, Mdinaradze, came out and supposedly announced plans to ban opposition parties.

This is a sign of desperation," said Salome Samadashvili, political secretary of "Stronger Georgia", during a briefing.

She stated that the adoption of the "Megobari Act" is an act of friendship for the Georgian people and an act of dismantling Ivanishvili’s Russian regime.

"I want to talk about a very significant victory that the Georgian people's persistent struggle for freedom achieved yesterday on the international stage. When the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee took the first and decisive step toward the approval of the 'Megobari Act,' which was unanimously approved. This victory is yet another major defeat for the Russian regime on the foreign front. We know the regime did everything it could to prevent progress in the adoption of this act. But they could not resist the strategic decision of Georgia and its friends. They fully supported the Georgian people's struggle for freedom. The adoption of this act means a new reality for Ivanishvili’s regime. I would call this act an act of friendship for the Georgian people and Georgia, and the dismantling of Ivanishvili’s Russian regime.

What is the essence? – Along with supporting democracy in Georgia, this act will establish a framework for widespread sanctions on a legislative level, both for Ivanishvili and members of his regime, as well as anyone, including business representatives, who collaborates with the regime and contributes to the dismantling of democracy in Georgia, pushing Georgia back into Russia's sphere of influence.

We saw the hysteria caused by the step forward in the adoption of this act when Russia’s representative in the illegitimate parliament, Mdinaradze, came out yesterday and supposedly announced plans to ban opposition parties. This is a sign of desperation. The regime has failed to achieve any of its goals. It will soon be six months since the elections, and they have not gained international recognition. More importantly, what is being reinforced against the regime is the imposition of widespread sanctions.

I want to tell the Georgian people—this is a message that you are not alone in the fight against Russia, against the Russian occupation regime, which has seized power. Although it has not yet physically raised the Russian flag over the parliament building, today, Russian business is conducted in the Georgian parliament, Russian tasks are being completed, including the work of a Russian commission, which is now laying the groundwork to declare our state guilty of the 2008 war and hold the Georgian state responsible. The next step would be to recognize the independence of our occupied territories, which Russia is demanding from the regime as the next move. All of this must be stopped by the resistance of the Georgian people. On March 31, we will all gather, those of us who do not accept Russian occupation, those who believe that with the 'Megobari Act' and other acts of international support, we will protect freedom in this country," Samadashvili emphasized.
