At today's session of the parliamentary temporary investigative commission, which is studying the activities of the regime and political officials from 2003 to 2012, and discussing the situation in Georgia's occupied territories from 2004 to 2008 and the issue of the August 2008 war, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze, who was summoned to testify, is present.
Before answering the questions, the commission gave Vashadze 20 minutes to make a statement. Prior to that, the commission's chair, Tea Tsulukiani, explained the procedure to him and reminded him that avoiding questions and providing false explanations would result in criminal liability.
"Do not feel awkward; we are telling everyone that if you avoid answering questions, criminal liability is provided for that. If you decide to deliberately provide false explanations, this too is punishable under criminal law. If you are unsure about an answer to a question, just tell us that you think it was like this. You were in front of Paata Davitaya’s commission, and I have the protocol of your questioning here, so that you do not contradict yourself... If you request, I can read out your excerpt to you, so that we have a complete meeting with you. This meeting is very important for the state," said Tsulukiani.
At this moment, Grigol Vashadze is answering the commission's questions regarding issues related to relations with Russia.
