Roman Gotsiridze: Maka Botchorishvili's statement on Anaklia port is stupid, while the position of Kavelashvili's advisor on the "3+3 format" is a statement of a traitor

There will be exceptions, since you cannot completely isolate all structures, but the fact is that the first person of Georgia is unacceptable to European countries, - opposition politician Roman Gotsiridze stated on Palitranews TV, responding to the visit of the Georgian Dream delegation to Romania.

According to him, there are many different factions in the Romanian parliament, therefore, there is nothing special about the visit of the Georgian Dream, because in reality, "the government is isolated".

"In general, the Georgian Dream is so isolated from the international community that such a visit is perceived as a sensation - how did it happen that they were allowed into an EU country. They probably entered with ordinary passports, they sneaked in, because diplomatic passports do not apply to them. There are and will always be exceptions, because you cannot completely isolate all structures. The fact is that the Georgian government, its executive branch, the head of state, the Prime Minister, is unacceptable for European countries. Even entering certain European countries is prohibited, this is a shameful fact. There are many different factions in the parliament [in Romania], including the opposition. There are countries, even in Germany, there are Putinist factions in the Bundestag. There are political groups in the parliaments of different countries that may invite someone, and this will not be the first or the last, although it would be better if this did not happen. But Romania is not Hungary, which blocked the EU statement yesterday. Orban is Putin’s puppet,” Roman Gotsiridze said.

Gotsiridze also spoke about the opposition’s steps and stated that the task should be to impose sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili that would not only be related to strengthening Russian power in Georgia and from which he “will never recover.”

“The role of the opposition is precisely to work on deepening international isolation. The issues of adopting the MEGOBARI Act and the second act in Congress are very important, the geopolitical situation is also changing, a temporary peace may be established between Russia and Ukraine – although I am not optimistic about Trump’s foreign initiatives. However, if the peace process begins, it will naturally be accompanied by an easing of sanctions. Therefore, our task should be to place Bidzina Ivanishvili under sanctions that would not only be related to strengthening Russian power in Georgia. Such is the Magnitsky Act. "It should lead to sanctions from which it will never survive," - said Roman Gotsiridze.

As for criticism on the issues of opposition’s unification or coordination, as Gotsiridze states, these words actually carry the same content and talking about this topic is not serious.

He also spoke about the letter sent to European leaders on behalf of Salome Zurabishvili, opposition parties and civil society, noting that the protest needs to be transferred to the foreign information field and that the letter serves precisely this purpose.

In addition, Roman Gotsiridze spoke about the Anaklia port project and the statement made by Maka Botchorishvili regarding it, where she focuses on the economic, rather than geopolitical, importance of the port. Gotsiridze calls the statement "stupid." According to him, the Anaklia port is, of course, in a geopolitical and economic context.” According to Gotsiridze, what is happening around Anaklia is still unclear.

Gotsiridze also responded to the appointment of Luka Ekhvaia as Mikheil Kavelashvili’s advisor on foreign affairs and his position on the 3+3 format, noting that this is “an essentially criminal statement and is directed at Russia.”

“This is an essentially criminal statement, a statement of a traitor. It is treason to participate in some format with an occupying country with which you do not have diplomatic relations. In a format where there are no Western partners and you remain face to face with the enemy. It is no coincidence that these statements coincided with Lavrov’s statements,” Gotsiridze said.
