Iago Khvichia: President as a "Trojan Horse" used by Georgian Dream to undermine opposition

Iago Khvichia, a member of the "Girchi" political party, has made a striking analogy, likening Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to a "Trojan horse" sent by the ruling party "Kots" (Georgian Dream) to sabotage the opposition ahead of the elections. He claimed that the president, rather than being an opposition ally, has been strategically placed to "explode" the opposition from within.

Khvichia criticized those who believe Zurabishvili is an oppositionist, stating, "Whoever thinks the president is an oppositionist, I think he is an idiot!" He argued that Zurabishvili is acting in the interests of Georgian Dream, recalling how Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of Georgian Dream, supported her in the past and how she continues to serve his interests.

According to Khvichia, Zurabishvili's proposal to establish a "technical government" before the elections is another tactic to disrupt the opposition. He pointed out that the president is offering prime ministerial and government posts to people who are desperate for such roles, further leading them into a trap.

"The President will push them to the end and blow up the dear opposition with a technical government before the elections," he said, suggesting that the opposition is falling into a carefully orchestrated ploy. Khvichiya believes that the opposition’s reliance on Zurabishvili, a figure not of their own choosing, has left them vulnerable.

The deputy also criticized opposition politicians for not recognizing Zurabishvili's role in this strategy, calling their trust in her misplaced and suggesting they are being manipulated.

For context, President Salome Zurabishvili recently announced her intention to present a technical government before the elections, calling on signatories of the "Georgian Charter" to fulfill its commitments.
