Rati Bregadze: approximately 500 applications submitted for registration in the "Register of Organizations Representing Foreign Interests"; NGOs to face audits and fines

Justice Minister Rati Bregadze announced that around 500 applications have been submitted for inclusion in the "Register of Organizations Representing Foreign Powers." The registry is designed to identify entities operating under the influence of foreign interests.

Speaking to journalists, Bregadze explained that the National Public Registry Agency is currently reviewing these applications to ensure compliance with the established criteria.

"At this stage, the relevant services are thoroughly examining the accuracy of the submitted applications. Organizations that meet the necessary criteria will be duly registered, while those that do not will be denied registration. Additionally, organizations that were obligated to register but failed to do so will be subjected to audits, and if found in violation, will face fines," Bregadze stated.

The initiative has garnered significant attention, as organizations failing to register may face legal consequences should they be determined to fall under the stipulated foreign influence criteria.
