Irakli Kobakhidze on Carl Hartzell's statements: It is not fair and objective, that is why it is not interesting for us

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the Georgian Dream, the recent statements of the EU Ambassador Carl Hartzell are not fair and objective.

As Kobakhidze explains, the statements of the EU Ambassador regarding the termination of the mandate of the three deputies and the Inspector's Service are not interesting.

"None of them is fair and objective. That is why it's not interesting to us. We would be interested in any objective assessment, including a critical one. Where there is no fairness and objectivity, we will pay less attention to such statements," Kobakhidze said.

EU Ambassador Carl Hartzel commented on the termination of the mandate of the three members of parliament, noting that the decision arguably came at the expense of political inclusiveness and democratic pluralism in Parliament. In addition, the Ambassador spoke about the decisions made by the parliament yesterday regarding the appointment of the heads of the agencies created as a result of the abolition of the State Inspector's Service. "We still fail to see objective reasons for the unexpected and hasty dismantlement of the State Inspector's Service," Hartzell said. As he added, effective democratic oversight of the security sector and proper safeguarding of data protection remain Georgian commitments for which it will be held accountable.
