Special Penitentiary Service: No restriction has been imposed on convict Mikheil Saakashvili

The Special Penitentiary Service says that no restrictions has been imposed on convict Mikheil Saakashvili.

As the agency explains in connection with the statement issued by Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer, there has been no use of any new restrictions and the reports do not correspond to reality.

“Convict M. Saakashvili is fully informed of his rights. It should be noted that according to the order of the Director General of the Special Penitentiary Service, the convict will serve the rest of his sentence in a closed prison. According to Article 65 of the Imprisonment Code, a convict serving a sentence in a closed facility has the right to receive one visitor in a month, as well as one additional visitor as an incentive.

Regarding the health condition of the convict, we explain that M. Saakashvili is under the constant supervision of the medical staff of the N12 penitentiary institution. It should be noted that the convict refuses to consult a psychotherapist," – reads the statement issued by the agency.
