Constitutional Court accepts State Inspector’s lawsuit for consideration

The case of the State Inspector, Londa Toloraia, has been accepted by the Constitutional Court for consideration.

The respective statement has been issued by the Constitutional Court. According to the statement, Vasil Roinishvili has been appointed as a judge on the lawsuit.

"Due to the increased public interest, the Constitutional Court of Georgia considers it expedient to disseminate information on the case Londa Toloraia v. Parliament of Georgia (Constitutional suit № 1673). The plaintiff appealed to the Constitutional Court on 28 January 2022. Following the procedure for registration of a constitutional claim, the case was referred to the First Panel of the Constitutional Court for consideration in accordance with law. Vasil Roinishvili has been appointed as a judge in accordance with the rules established by the Rules of Procedure of the Constitutional Court. The Constitutional Court, after the completion of the preparatory phase for the hearing of the case, will disseminate information about the consideration of the constitutional claim and/or the implementation of other proceedings in the case,” reads the statement.

Londa Toloraia, the Head of the State Inspector's Service, has filed a constitutional lawsuit with the Constitutional Court. According to her, she has appealed against the constitutionality of the amendments to the Law of Georgia on the State Inspector's Service and the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection, which stipulate the early termination of the State Inspector's term of office and creation of two new services.
